What opportunities exist for craft businesses to use artificial intelligence (AI) in their day-to-day work? How can this make things easier for companies? Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Volker Wittberg (Fachhochschule des Mittelstands/Bielefeld) presented the project "Artificial intelligence and digital offensive for the skilled trades in NRW" at the Science Forum of the IfM Bonn at the beginning of July.
The researchers at the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands are working with the Fraunhofer Institute IOSB-INA in Lemgo and the Paderborn District Craftsmen's Association to identify the specific needs of craftspeople, such as recognising and serving new customer requirements, reducing bureaucracy or relieving physical effort, and to offer AI solutions for this.
