The report shows that start-ups founded by immigrants have contributed significantly to NRW's economy between 2003 and 2018. However, the number of start-ups by immigrants varies in the regions of NRW. Ultimately, immigrants are particularly active in founding companies where native Germans also frequently start up, i.e. in the agglomeration areas such as Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf or Metropole Ruhr - and less so in the more rural areas of South Westphalia or East Westphalia-Lippe.
