Does artificial intelligence (AI) offer added value for entre-preneurship research? Or can AI also hinder the research activities of scientists when it only has the sources that have been entered? Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Friederike Welter (IfM Bonn/University of Siegen) discussed these questions at the Rencontres de St-Gall using the example of female entrepreneurship.
The IfM president emphasised the importance of being aware of the textual and pictorial material that could have been used to train the respective AI software. Based on the example of female entrepreneurship, she explained that the older the data, the more the AI would convey a stereotypical image of women, according to which female entrepreneurs are rather the exception.
