Are the terms ‘Mittelstand’ and ‘family business’ synonymous? Above what number of employees do companies belong to the Mittelstand? What does the abbreviation "SME" mean? These and many other questions were answered by many visitors at the stand of the IfM Bonn and the Chair of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Management & Entrepreneurship at the ‘Open University Day’ on 8 June in Siegen. In addition, school students could test for themselves whether their dream job might be in the Mittelstand sector in the future.
The Institut für Mittelstandsfotrschung (IfM) Bonn cooperate with the University of Siegen since 2013. The President of the IfM Bonn, Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Friederike Welter, also holds the professorship for business administration, particularly management of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship, in Siegen.
