Managers surveyed for the Mittelstand Panel 2023 identified the shortage of skilled workers as their biggest challenge in 2023, just as they did in 2021 and 2022.
At the skilled labour congress "Diversity in the labour market. Innovative approaches to recruiting skilled workers" at the end of May, North Rhine-Westphalia's Minister of Economic Affairs Mona Neubaur, NRW Minister of Health Karl-Josef Laumann and the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister for Children, Youth, Family, Equality, Refugees and Integration met with entrepreneurs and various experts to discuss the question of how the immigration of skilled workers should be organised.
They also explored the question of whether and how the previously untapped labour force potential can be better integrated. Dr Teita Bijedić-Krumm contributed among others the scientific findings from the study "Protection against discrimination and the promotion of personal diversity in working life" to the discussion.
